Remembering Robin Windsor

It’s been a really tough few days. We were heartbroken to learn of the passing of our dear client and friend, Robin Windsor.

Robin was an amazing professional dancer, some of you will know him from his time as one of the pros on Strictly Come Dancing, notable celeb partners included Deborah Meaden, Anita Dobson and Patsy Kensit.

Robin and I met around 2014 through social media when he tweeted about his vision for a deep green velvet dinner jacket. I commented joking that I was “the guy to see” or something to that effect, and a few DMs later we swapped numbers and the rest is history.

Robin was always so fun to be around, he absolutely loved coming down to the workroom to be fitted and would always message me during tours and events, to tell me how many compliments he received on all the clothes I made for him.

It’s so hard to put into words how I’m feeling right now. I was on the tube yesterday staring dumbly at my phone and the last message he sent me, about how he had worn the green velvet on tour and it still got a lot of attention and he loved it so much.

Robin was only 44 when he died. I know that he had some struggles especially post-Strictly, the ending of which also coincided with a bad break up. He was found in a hotel room in London this week after returning from a cruise tour. No one knows for sure what happened but I and other friends of his fear the worst.

I guess the one thing I’ve been trying to take from this is that communication, conversations, reaching out when you need to or reaching out to those around you who might need you to… it’s so important.

We never know what others are going through and we should all strive to be attentive, to look out for and recognise the signs that others might be struggling. To offer help and support if we’re able.

Robin, I’ll miss you so much. You are the kindest soul, an amazing talent and you’ve been taken from the world too soon. Burn The Floor up there, my friend.
